Hey loves!
Okay so here's a quick run down of what's going on with me: your girl got laid off. Again. LOL I'm keeping my spirits up and I've been very busy working on nails taking clients at home and at a salon in town. I have amazing clients who have been encouraging me, checking up on me and making sure I'm okay so I'm just going with the flow right now.
Sandra is one of those amazing clients. This gem of a woman found me on Instagram and booked an appointment a few weeks ago. She admitted to me that she never does her nails but I'll be putting a stop to that! She settled for an orangy-red shade called Mango Mischief by IBD. I then added a simple leopard print on the accent fingers.
She was happy with the results but I later found out that though her hubby liked the change, he wants her to try something bolder next time. I am totally up for the challenge! See you soon Sandra!

Nicki Minaj collection reloaded
Happy Monday guys!
I hope everyone got to enjoy the long weekend. I know I sure did. I tried to come up with and Easter manicure for you guys but I was just so uninspired... everything feels so done when it comes to themed manicures like that. So after a few failed attempts I decided I'd just give it another go next year.
Today I'll be revisiting some of the polishes from OPI's Nicki Minaj collection. I picked Did It On 'Em, Fly and Pink Friday for the base and then just went crazy with black, white and pink acrylic paint. I had no I idea what the end result would be when I first started but I must say I'm quite happy with it.

New tribal nails!
Hi guys,
Your girl is back and today I want to get right into some
nail art! This tribal look was inspired by African patterns. I think almond shaped nails are always classy and in this case it
actually makes up for the fact that this is a pretty bold manicure. Classy.
Meet Flashy.
I incorporated some of my go-to nail art techniques;
stamping and freehand painting. The base colors and stamping work was all done
using nail polish and I freehanded the designs on the thumb and ring fingers
using acrylic paints.
I think the Afro Twins are fun! How do you feel about bold
nails?

Animal print for Nadia feat OPI San Tan-Tonio
Happy Monday my loves!
I'm totally blogging from work while on my lunch break so I'll try to make this brief! * stuffs face with chicken salad *
Nadia is a new client who came across some of my work in Instagram. We used to run in the same circles back in the day when I was in church but we hadn't seen each other in a minute and this was her first time getting her nails done by me.
Like a good client, Nadia had sent me a picture of the set she wanted prior to us meeting up.
Once we got together she decided to switch up the color scheme by choosing OPI's San Tan-Tonio as a base. The black accents were created using Essie's Licorice and the leopard print was done with acrylic paint. I had some gold stones but they weren't the right shade so I chose some black stones instead.
So hawt.

Going Tribal! feat Gelish Hot Rod Red
Happy Fridayyyyyyyyy!
Guys this week was heavy! I got some bad news Friday and everything started piling up from there. To make matters worst, I went to work yesterday to find out that a good portion of the staff was laid off. By God's grace I was one of the lucky ones who didn't get cut so I am grateful for that!
Enough with the depressing stuff already! Let's get happy with some polish! I absolutely LOVE the set I worked on. My boo and fellow blogger Ms Double XL came to me with a picture of a set created by nail art superstar Regina Rodriguez:
Sarah wanted a look inspired by that picture but using black, white, red and gold. The red is Gelish Hot Rod Red, the white is Gelish Sleek White and the black is Dark Shadows. The detailing was done using acrylic paint. I loooooooove this! I prefer this color combination because the red Sarah chose really pops! Click here to see what bangin' outfit Ms Double XL wore with those nails!

Hot nails feat. Essie's Fifth Avenue
Hi guys!
I don’t know about you guys but I’m ready for warmer weather so I’m trying to get the sun to come out of hiding by wearing a hot red color on my nails. This is 3 coats of Essie’s Fifth Avenue.
I then went crazy with some white acrylic paint and wrote the words HOT, CHAUD and CALIENTE all over the nails.

Animal print feat Sarah aka DoubleXL
Hey loves!
Can you believe that this is my 100th post?!? Wow.
Today's post is a quickie. When fellow blogger Sarah aka DoubleXL from Queen Sized Flava called wanting to do her nails for her trip to New Jersey's Full Figured Fashion Week I just had to find a way to squeeze her in.
Sarah is a bold and vibrant young woman so I knew that her nail swag had to match! Miss DoubleXL is a sucker for animal print (as is yours truly) so she opted for a funky leopard print. At her request, I laid down 2 coats of China Glaze's Poinsettia as a base for all fingers (except the ring finger) and created the spots with China Glaze's Flip Flop Fantasy and a black nail art pen. I then inverted the colours on the ring finger.
The evening ended way late as we got sidetracked with girl talk. You have to love a fierce chick. The nail porn was a courtesy of Sarah (thanks chica!) Be sure to check her out at Queensizedflava.com for full coverage of New Jersey's Full Figured Fashion Week and all things related to beauty, plus-sized fashion, self-esteem building and more!

You just can't go wrong with animal print.

I Can Transform Ya! feat OPI's The "It" Color
-->
Hey guys!
I finally got around to working on a Transformers manicure! I had purchased a stamping plate with Transformers images a while ago and never got around to using it but I had some time to kill last night so I decided to give it a go. I have two boys and they LOVE all things Transformers so you can only imagine my oldest son’s eyes bugging out when he saw the stamping plate!
I decided to go with a Bumblebee themed look. What you see is 2 coats of Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear in Black Out on the ring finger and 3 coats of OPI’s The “It” Color on all the others. I dusted off a bottle of black Shatter to use on my index and pinky and stamped the Autobot logo on the ring finger with Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Silver Sweep. Lastly I hand painted some black lines on the thumb and middle finger (with acrylic paint) to mimic the detailing of the Camaro. I think this manicure is so much fun!
I just might try a Decepticon theme next time…

Calling all nurses! feat. Sally Hansen's Lively Lilac
Hey guys,
I haven’t done much swatching or nail art over the past week and a half or so. Not for lack of ideas but because I’ve been preoccupied with other aspects of my life and busy holding things down at home. So much so that I have not worn any polish in 4 days. I know right? I saw my friend Miche Friday and she took one look at my hands and said “You’re not wearing polish?!? Oh no Vam, I don’t like it!” Only good friends can say things like this to you and not hurt your feelings, ha!
Life is pretty stressful right now and my body is not handling the pressure very well. Two weeks ago I ended up with eczema on my face, which had never happened before. NO BUENO. I needed to get this taken care of ASAP and I didn’t want to have to use any harsh creams so I called on two of my friends who are nursing students (hey Miche & Glav!). They were super sweet and helpful, giving me tips on how to take care of my flare up and I’m glad to say that it cleared up very quickly. So today’s mani is dedicated to my personal nursing staff (doesn’t that make me sound like a boss?), thank you girls for letting me be a cranky patient and for helping me get my sexy back!
I give you EKG nails! The basecoat is Sally Hansen’s Insta Dri in Lively Lilac. I then painted on the lines with black acrylic paint and added a fimo heart for cuteness.
Besos!

Tales From The Bin feat Sinful Colors' Happy Ending
Hola!
I plucked this baby off the top of the lacquered mountain that has now become The Bin. I seriously need a new rack to control the overflow. Looking at the pile makes my right eye twitch.
Organizational problems aside, I’ll be showing you Happy Ending by Sinful Colors. I have a "thing" about Sinful Colors, kinda like a love/hate relationship. I want to love their polish but most of the ones I own are duds. Thankfully it isn’t the case with Happy Ending. I really like this green. It’s just so vibrant! Even more than I was able to show in the pictures.
I finally decided to try a Russian one-stroke design. Since the base color made me think of spring, I decided to try to make white and yellow flowers. I’m still learning but I like how this turned out. I didn’t want to take it off!
Enjoy,
Vee…xox…

Ramblings + nails feat. Sally Hansen Blue-Away
Hi guys!
The week has been kinda so-so… Unemployment sucks. Not much else to be said about that lol. Other than that, my cat Jackson is alive and scaring the crap out of my kids. They love him to death but he’s been on some hunter mode where he just jumps on everything! If I didn’t know any better I’d think that cat was doing crack cocaine.
Speaking of cats, today’s manicure is dedicated to the felines! This is 2 coats of Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Brisk Blue for the ring finger and Blue-Away for all the others (also Insta Dri). I alternated the colors for the spots and used a black striper pen to give them more definition.
Love this manicure. I’m a sucker for animal print.

Pink Wednesday + OPI's Cozu-Melted In The Sun
Happy Pink Wednesday my loves!
Today’s pink look is featuring OPI Cozu-Melted In The Sun. I love this peachy pink shade!
I decided to jazz it up by adding a stripe of Color Club’s Hot Like Lava which is a lovely foil. I then added silver bullion beads where the two polishes meet and added some heart shaped spangles to the ring finger.
That’s it folks!

OPI's Ya'll Come Back Ya Hear? - You can't win 'em all...
Hey loves!
Hope everyone is doing well! Oh and special shout out to the new followers and much love to the old ones. I am very thankful for being able to blog and interact with other polish junkies.
On to the polish!
Today I’m showing you guys a sorbet polish from OPI that has been sitting on the shelf for a while now. Ya’ll Come Back Ya Hear? is a yummy orange polish. I loved the way it looked in the bottle. Not so much on the nail. It’s a jelly so it’s supposed to be sheer, I get it but this one was a little TOO sheer for me. Here is it after 3 coats. Notice the very visible smile line.
I was not happy with the final look so I went into embellishment overload with white acrylic paint and star shaped spangles. The look is kinda out there lol on a regular day I guess I’d only decorate one or two fingers. I’ll be wearing this polish with an orange base next time.
You can’t win ‘em all right?!? LOL
Besos!
