Hoping on the bandwagon feat Gelish Magnito in Inseparable Forces

Hey guys!

Magnetic nail polish has been all the rave for a while now. Though it’s supposed to be the new crackle/shatter of the moment, I’m probably the last person on earth who hasn’t tried it. I already own a Layla magnetic polish but the thing has been collecting dust for months (too many options not enough hands!). I was going through the bin looking for something to swatch when I decided to go for Gelish’s Magneto nail polish in Inseparable Forces. This shade also comes in the soak off gel polish formula (which I also own) but today’s pics are of the traditional formula.

This stuff is actually pretty cool. I just wish I had different designs to play with but this is still awesome. I love this deep blue and the way the magnetic particles look once the design has been created. I don’t know how long this trend will last but I’m enjoying it so far.

What do you think about magnetic polish? Have you tried it yet?

Hot nails feat. Essie's Fifth Avenue

Hi guys!

I don’t know about you guys but I’m ready for warmer weather so I’m trying to get the sun to come out of hiding by wearing a hot red color on my nails. This is 3 coats of Essie’s Fifth Avenue.

I then went crazy with some white acrylic paint and wrote the words HOT, CHAUD and CALIENTE all over the nails.

Face of The Day - Copper smokey look

Hey loves!

Today’s post is a makeup related one! Last night I had the very rare opportunity to go out and have some ‘me’ time. I went out for drinks and some vagabonding in Montreal’s Old Port, which is really beautiful at nighttime.  I wanted to keep my makeup simple but still kinda sexy so I went for a copper smoky look. I also didn’t want anything clashing with my loud candy nails (which the waitress who served us loved!) so I wore all black and accessorized with a skull scarf and a leather jacket (not shown). Here is a list of the products I used to achieve this look:

EYES:

-       Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
-       Wet n Wild Color Icon Palette in Vanity
-       Cargo eyeline in black
-       Rimmel Glam’Eyes mascara in Extreme Black

LIPS:

-       Nars lipgloss in Chihuahua

FACE:

-       Lise Watier Portfolio concealer wheel
-       MAC Sheer loose powder in NW45
-       Nars blush in Taj Mahal

Candy Themed nails feat. Gelish Shake It Til You Samba

Hey loves!

I have been loving my Gelish nails! I’m currently on my 3rd set and my nails look great if I do say so myself. Last night I decided to combine my love for Gelish and 3D nail art. This look is very bold, I decided to use a few molds and give freehand 3D nail art a try. The base color is Gelish’s Shake It Til You Samba with a coat of June Bride on the tips. The accent finger was then painted in Black Shadow. Using acrylic paint, I added some gum balls to the tips and wrote the words “Candy Girl” on the thumb. Finally I made a bow from scratch using green acrylic powder and added it to the ring finger along with some candy shaped embellishments (those were made with a mold). This look is really out there but I like it. 3D molds are great but I think I prefer the freehand embellishments.  The awesome thing is that these can last up to 3 weeks with no chips! One week in my case because I can’t stand having the same polish on for that long.

Enjoy!

Neutrals feat. Taffeta by Gelish

Hey loves!

Your girl is back to show you the nails of one of my clients.

Jenny is an RN in pediatric surgery. So not only is she rough on her hands but she also doesn't have the time to be painting them every other day. She wanted colour that could last longer than 2 days so I recommended she give Gelish a try. Due to her professional obligations she requested a neutral shade so we went for Taffeta which is a very sheer pearly pink.

We did 4 coats just to even things out. The smile line is still visible but the nails have that healthy look to them. I enjoyed working on Jenny. That's one smart cookie right there! She blessed me with some awesome knowledge and wisdom. That's what so great about what I do. I get to make people feel pretty but in return my clients bless me with advice, laughter, compassion and so much more.

Animal print feat Sarah aka DoubleXL

Hey loves!

Can you believe that this is my 100th post?!? Wow.

Today's post is a quickie. When fellow blogger Sarah aka DoubleXL from Queen Sized Flava called wanting to do her nails for her trip to New Jersey's Full Figured Fashion Week I just had to find a way to squeeze her in.

Sarah is a bold and vibrant young woman so I knew that her nail swag had to match! Miss DoubleXL is a sucker for animal print (as is yours truly) so she opted for a funky leopard print. At her request, I laid down 2 coats of China Glaze's Poinsettia as a base for all fingers (except the ring finger) and created the spots with China Glaze's Flip Flop Fantasy and a black nail art pen. I then inverted the colours on the ring finger.

The evening ended way late as we got sidetracked with girl talk. You have to love a fierce chick. The nail porn was a courtesy of Sarah (thanks chica!) Be sure to check her out at Queensizedflava.com for full coverage of New Jersey's Full Figured Fashion Week and all things related to beauty, plus-sized fashion, self-esteem building and more!

You just can't go wrong with animal print.

Guess who's back?

Hey guys!

Long, long, looooog time no blog… I really had a lot of things to deal with in my personal life and as much as I missed blogging I had other things to focus on. I think it's now safe to say that things are falling back into place for me and so I am glad to announce that I am back. Thank you all for sticking with me and continuing to check out my blog even through this recent dry spell.

I might have been gone for almost a month but I've still been doing nail polish related things and so I'm taking my time and preparing posts for you guys. Still, I couldn't leave you without some nail porn so today I decided to show you my new obsession: Gelish soak-off gel polish!

Okay so this product is right up there with CND's Shellac but with a much wider color selection. If you want vibrant colors, incredible shine and beautiful chip-less nails for at least 2 weeks then you want to get into this. I currently own 15 shades of it and I am in LOVE. My sis Mims was kind enough to be my guinea pig. She's wearing 2 coats of Tiger Blossum.

No dry time and the shine? Bananas. The picture doesn't do it justice.
