Random swatches! feat Essie's Navigate Her

Hey guys!

I been trying my best to swatch as much nail polish as I can so that I can at least have some material to post for those days when I just don’t have time to blog. So I went a little swatch crazy last weekend (my cuticles are crying for Jesus). Today I’ll be showing you a swatch of Essie’s Navigate Her (is it just me or does that sound kinda naughty?).  This is two easy coats with no topcoat.

Once I swatched it I decided to break out another polish I had been meaning to try out: OPI’s Shatter the Scales which came out with the Spiderman collection. The glittery finish is what makes this shatter different from the other colors OPI has come out with.

Don't knock it 'til you try it! feat Essie's Chinchilly

Hey loves!

The polish I want to show you today is one that I’ve been kind of lukewarm about. Essie’s Chinchilly is a light grey cream with a little taupe mixed in. There isn’t much I won’t wear in terms of color but as popular as this shade has been, it just didn’t turn me on. Well after passing by it like a million times I finally decided to pick this baby up and see what the hype was about.

What you’ll see below is two coats of Chinchilly with topcoat. I must say it’s not as bad as I thought it would be. Quite neutral against my skin tone. I just don’t see myself reaching for this one over and over… I’ll be sure to try it again with some embellishments; everything is better with a little nail art.

I Can Transform Ya! feat OPI's The "It" Color

-->
Hey guys!

I finally got around to working on a Transformers manicure! I had purchased a stamping plate with Transformers images a while ago and never got around to using it but I had some time to kill last night so I decided to give it a go. I have two boys and they LOVE all things Transformers so you can only imagine my oldest son’s eyes bugging out when he saw the stamping plate!

I decided to go with a Bumblebee themed look. What you see is 2 coats of Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear in Black Out on the ring finger and 3 coats of OPI’s The “It” Color on all the others.  I dusted off a bottle of black Shatter to use on my index and pinky and stamped the Autobot logo on the ring finger with Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Silver Sweep. Lastly I hand painted some black lines on the thumb and middle finger (with acrylic paint) to mimic the detailing of the Camaro. I think this manicure is so much fun!

I just might try a Decepticon theme next time…

Nicki Minaj For OPI pt. 2 - Swatches & Review

Hi guys!

I’m back with the 2nd installment of my Nicki Minaj for OPI review! These 3 polishes are the “attention grabbers” of the collection. Let’s get right to the swatches!

Metallic For Life:

Silver glitter in a black base. This is very pretty. At first look it reminded me of Nicole by OPI’s Nicole’s Nickel but Metallic For Life is actually a little darker and has much chunkier glitter. In order to avoid having to apply 3 coats, I decided to start with one coat of Sally Hansen’s Black Out and then added 2 coats of Metallic For Life.

Super Bass Shatter:

I for one am not tired of shatter nail polish. It’s the color combinations that make the whole thing work! Super Bass Shatter is a shimmery purple that was very easy to apply. It didn’t have that thick consistency we’ve all come to expect from shatter polishes.  This is one coat of Super Bass Shatter over 2 coats of Sally Hansen’s Lacey Lilac (Xtreme Wear).

Save Me:

This one is gorgeous in the bottle but I wasn’t so sure that I’d love it on the nail… Thinking this would be too sheer to wear alone I started off by layering it over back nail polish (SH Black Out) but hated the result. I then decided to try it on its own and actually really liked it! I had to put on 3 coats to attain full opacity but it was worth it. Jon thinks this is New Year’s Eve worthy.

So all in all the collection was nice but when  selling a product that represents  a personality as big as Nicki’s  you just HAVE to bring in the the big guns (a holo or crazy flakie in this collection would have been KICK ASS). Fly and Save me were my faves and Did It On Em would have to be my least favorite only because OPI has already given us at least 2 very similar shades in the recent past. There you have it polish freaks! What do you think about the collection? Will you be picking any of these up?
