Lucky me! feat Essie's She's Picture Perfect

Hey Loves,

I was really happy to see Essie’s new Sure Shot collection at the pharmacy by my house last week so I picked up She’s Picture Perfect. I was even happier to see that the polish was marked at 7$ instead of it’s regular 10$ price tag! Sounds like a deal huh? Well imagine my surprise when I make it to the cash and the cashier notices that the polish is incorrectly priced (it really should have been 10$). Long story short: I ended up getting that polish for FREE because someone tagged it wrong! (something about a law we have for the protection of consumers…) SCORE! I also got Essie’s No More Film for free so I’ll b sure to post swatches of it shortly.

I decided to keep this look plain and just added a few stones to the ring finger. Kinda like jewelry for your nails. That’s it folks!

Even nail biters can have pretty nails!

Hi loves,

This post is a quickie. I wanted to show you guys some gel nails that I had the chance to work on. The model is a nail biter so I had to deal with damaged cuticles and a very small nail plate but never fear! The nail doctor is here! Lol Okay, okay let’s get serious. My model wanted a French manicure which would have been impossible with her natural nails so I decided to make things easy on myself by gluing on some white tips. I do think that the free edge of the nail (whether natural or artificial) should be shorter than the nail plate in order to achieve a balanced look however my client’s personal preferences trump any “rule” I could ever make up. She wanted really long nails so we went for it! Using the CND nail system I was able to give her the length all while keeping the nails thin. I think there’s nothing worst than thick fake nails. Urgh. Considering what I was asked to do I am pretty happy with the result and so was my model. That’s all folks!

Pink Wednesday feat. OPI's Pedal Faster Suzi!

It’s Pink Wednesday again!

Hope everyone in doing well. I’m sure I’d be doing much better if I could have my nails back to a decent length but hey what can you do… The one good thing about having short nails is that it’s way easier for me to stamp using full nail images. I also think that it keeps me from focusing on the length of my nails or lack thereof.

Let’s talk nail polish! Today’s manicure is 2 coats of OPI’s Pedal Faster Suzi! From the Holland collection which was gifted to me by my sissie Mims (love you peanut!). I could have gone for a 3rd coat but stamping is very forgiving so 2 was enough. Using Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Flashy Fuchsia I picked a cute pattern from BM plate 201 and there you have it!

Super simple. Super cute.

An update & nails feat. Essie's Pretty Edgy

Hi guys,

I know I’ve been gone for a little over a week now… I’ve been under a lot of stress the past few months and I just needed some time to slow down and take care of myself. I was really run down. I wasn’t doing my nails and wasn’t in a blogging kind of mood but I’m feeling a little better now. My neglectful ways caused my nails to get all raggedy and broken so I ended up having to big chop everything. I’m really not a fan of my nails at this length but sometimes you have to start fresh right?

I also wanted to share some good news; your girl got a new job! Finally! It’s not in the insurance field like my old gig but I welcome the change and the people I’ve met through the interviewing process all seem very nice so far. Today will be my first day so I’ll let you guys know how that goes. I feel like the new kid in school all over again!

Talk to you guys soon!

Betsey Johnson nails feat OPI's Rising Star

Hey guys!

Today I want to show you a manicure inspired by a designer. I was in the mood to wear leopard print but also wanted to add a little flair to it. The color combo I had chosen made me think of Betsey Johnson so I decided to use that as a theme. When I think about Betsey Johnson (after I stop thinking about how badly I want to take a brush to that hair) I think of stripes, pink and leopard print of course!

I applied 2 coats of Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Whirlwind White to the ring finger and OPI’s Rising Star to all the others. Using a dotting tool, China Glaze’s Brownstone and a nail art pen, I made my leopard spots. For the accent finger I used Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear in Black Out to make stripes and stamped some pink lips because they remind me of her logo.

There you have it!

I Can Transform Ya! feat OPI's The "It" Color

-->
Hey guys!

I finally got around to working on a Transformers manicure! I had purchased a stamping plate with Transformers images a while ago and never got around to using it but I had some time to kill last night so I decided to give it a go. I have two boys and they LOVE all things Transformers so you can only imagine my oldest son’s eyes bugging out when he saw the stamping plate!

I decided to go with a Bumblebee themed look. What you see is 2 coats of Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear in Black Out on the ring finger and 3 coats of OPI’s The “It” Color on all the others.  I dusted off a bottle of black Shatter to use on my index and pinky and stamped the Autobot logo on the ring finger with Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Silver Sweep. Lastly I hand painted some black lines on the thumb and middle finger (with acrylic paint) to mimic the detailing of the Camaro. I think this manicure is so much fun!

I just might try a Decepticon theme next time…

Strawberry nails inspired by Robin Moses

Hey guys,

Today I’ll be showing you a look that I recreated after watching a Robin Moses tutorial on YouTube. Robin puts the ART back in nail art for me. She is a true artist. Some of her work is so intricate that I would never even try to recreate it but this Juicy strawberry nails theme was right up my alley.  So just in case it wasn’t clear before I want to say that this manicure was completely inspired by the talented Robin Moses. Click HERE to see the original.

This is  two coats of OPI’s Pink Friday and one coat of Essie Pure Pearlfection on all the nails except the ring finger. I painted a strawberry on the ring finger with acrylic paints and hand painted a crown and the word “Juicy” on the thumb. Rhinestones were added to the crown for a nice finishing touch.

I love this manicure and even though I tweaked a few elements here and there I am pleasantly surprised with how it came out. Shout out and much respect to Robin Moses.

Haitian Tag Video + nails feat. China Glaze's Skyscraper

Hey guys!

I recently recorded and uploaded a Haitian tag to my YouTube channel. I am guessing that you guys now know that I am Canadian but born of Haitian parents and even though I’ve emerged myself in Canadian culture (whatever that means, we’re such a mix!) I have been exposed to Haitian culture all my life and it is a part of me I cannot deny. So I did this tag for fun and I also wanted to show you the nail polish I had on in the video.

This was 1 coat of China Glaze’s First Mate topped off with 2 coats of China Glaze’s  Skyscraper. One coat would have sufficed but I like my glitter pretty opaque.

Forgive my red cuticles, I was swatching lots of red polish!

Simple but so beautiful

Calling all nurses! feat. Sally Hansen's Lively Lilac

Hey guys,

I haven’t done much swatching or nail art over the past week and a half or so. Not for lack of ideas but because I’ve been preoccupied with other aspects of my life and busy holding things down at home.  So much so that I have not worn any polish in 4 days. I know right? I saw my friend Miche Friday and she took one look at my hands and said “You’re not wearing polish?!? Oh no Vam, I don’t like it!” Only good friends can say things like this to you and not hurt your feelings, ha!

Life is pretty stressful right now and my body is not handling the pressure very well. Two weeks ago I ended up with eczema on my face, which had never happened before. NO BUENO. I needed to get this taken care of ASAP and I didn’t want to have to use any harsh creams so I called on two of my friends who are nursing students (hey Miche & Glav!). They were super sweet and helpful, giving me tips on how to take care of my flare up and I’m glad to say that it cleared up very quickly. So today’s mani is dedicated to my personal nursing staff  (doesn’t that make me sound like a boss?), thank you girls for letting me be a cranky patient and for helping me get my sexy back!

I give you EKG nails! The basecoat is Sally Hansen’s Insta Dri in Lively Lilac. I then painted on the lines with black acrylic paint and added a fimo heart for cuteness.
